It was with much excitement that Allen Racing headed south for the Australian Junior Long Track Championship. After this years low at the Australian Junior Dirt Track, Jake was in hot form going into the championships with wins in the Queensland Dirt and Long Track Championships. With a record number of competitors entered, the 250cc Fourstroke 13-U16 yrs would be the largest and toughest class with 38 riders.
Friday was practice, with Jakes main rival being a local it was important to have the right set up for Saturdays heats. With 38 riders the format would be four heats, with top twelve qualifiers going through to Sunday. Sundays finals would be over 3 races.
Saturday would be a full programme, due to the weather only three heats would be run, Jake winning all three, he would have to wait until Sunday to meet his main rival Sean McLellan who also won all his three heats and looking fast and the man to beat.
Sunday morning was not looking good on the weather front, but this is an Australian Title and rain, hail or shine the meeting would go ahead, the fourth heat would be in the wet, with Sean taking the win and Jake hot on his back wheel. With the sun pepping through Jake was up for the challenge. Final 1 saw Jake get the hotshot and never looked back, with McLellan 2nd and Brayden Elliott 3rd. Final 2 Jake got the hot shot again and again McLellan hot on his heals, but pushed to hard and went down on the last lap, results Jake 1st, Elliott 2nd, and Tom Lewis 3rd. Final 3 would be hard, don't push to hard, but ride your race, with a top four placing guaranteeing the 2010 title. Final 3 result McLellan, Allen and Lewis. |
